Internships

UHM undergraduate and graduate students in English are invited to apply for the 2024-2025 MĀNOA Journal Internship. The student will work ten – fifteen hours a week and be trained in all aspects of publishing: editing, proofreading, grant writing, marketing, publicity, business writing, production, and database management.

Desirable qualifications include past experience in literary or other publishing, an interest in the literature of Asia, the Pacific, and the Americas, willingness to learn, and great writing, organization, and computer skills. Applicants should be dependable, self-motivating, able to carry out complex instructions, and able to work harmoniously in a small, busy office.

Applicants should submit (1) an application, (2) a cover letter, (3) a résumé/CV, and (4) two references. Applicants should include the following in their cover letter: experience related to literary publishing, interest in the literature of Asia, the Pacific, and the Americas, academic goals, and what they would like to learn and achieve by apprenticing with MĀNOA Journal.

We strongly recommend that interested students visit the MĀNOA Journal office KUY 626 or contact MĀNOA’s Managing Editor at manoaeds@hawaii.edu before applying.
